london tour: mercure hyde park

5:41 PM

My stay in London was not designated to one specific neighborhood - today we've jumped from Shoreditch to Hyde Park! Nestled in the charming and quaint Talbot Square is the Mercure London Hyde Park - a stunning boutique hotel "made up of reinvented and reimagined Victorian mansions". It's old school on the outside, and beautifully modern on the inside. Though the immediate area is quiet, the Mercure London Hyde Park is located a quick 3 minute walk from Paddington Station and busy little streets.

Compared to most tiny hotel rooms in London, walking into my room at the Mercure was a pleasant surprise - the room was big and adorned with swans made out of towels and a "Happy Birthday" dessert platter accompanied by some yummy bottles of wine. Aside from the comfortable and spacious king size bed, the bathroom floors were heated (!!!) and the shower could have fit 8 people in it, though I would suggest taking that time for yourself. There's a fantastic bar located in the hotel lobby and the staff was friendly and attentive. I mean, who has a birthday dessert waiting for them in their hotel room? That's more than what my office did for me - ha.

The neighborhood where the Mercure London Hyde Park is located was absolutely perfect. As a New Yorker, I judge every location on convenience, and we were a stone's throw from the Underground, endless pubs, charming streets and tons of delicious restaurants. There truly could not have been a better location.

I will be back!
