no color allowed

I don't mess with winter chill, even if it's 68 degrees and sunny. You get used to perfect weather out here in LA, so the slightest chill is pretty strong. I found this Forever 21 jacket/sweater on sale and couldn't be happier with a "winter jacket" for the (not so) awful weather we've been encountering.

Also, these black boots from Lulu*s are pretty much a dream come true. They're clean, sexy, and comfortable - a must have for a lady who's just now venturing back into the world of high heels. Layer all of this with a lotta gray and you're in business.

What has been your winter go-to jacket?

meet me in the midi

I always thought I was too short for a midi skirt like this, but this skirt changed my mind. I love the colors and pattern and the athletic feel. I wore this out to brunch and couldn't have thought of a better look.

I probably would have worn a higher, more feminine heel with this look - heels are something I need to invest in a little more.

storms are brewing in your heart

I've noticed since I've dyed my hair dark that a look at typically looked girly looks rather gothic now. Not that I care - I actually really like feeling like a badass, but it is a different feeling.

On another note, I'm going through an internal battle. I'm learning so much about myself right now and have come to a crossroads of loyalty between a friend and how I feel about a particular issue. I don't even feel stressed about this - I know that I'll make the right choice when the time comes. There's something incredibly settling about being on your own. You don't really have anything to lose. I have a feeling I'm on the verge of gaining something that could change a good deal of things in my life though. But it's not money. Dammit.

we could live like this

LA is very temperamental this time of year - I remember it always being warm this time last year, but I could be wrong. I have a pretty terrible memory these days. Anyway, despite the rainy weather over the past few days, there was a time when the sun was shining and the afternoons were warm. I wore this outfit. The end.

Ok, not really. And believe me, I'm not complaining about the weather, I know we're so very lucky out here in California. I heard all about the freezing temps in Ohio this week. I do appreciate a good opportunity to layer, and before we know it, summer and endless beach weather will be back.

There really isn't seasonal depression out here in LA (yes, it's really a thing) but there is this odd feeling of not really knowing what season or time of year it is... the months blend together, it seems to make time appear to move faster. I'm not sure if I'm comfortable with this.
