a cup of kindness

It is too often that we let judgement dictate our lives and how we treat other people.

What we don't know, no matter how close we think we are to other people, is what one may be going through. Everybody has so much going on in their minds all the time, and when you are having a rough day, believe me, you're not the only one having a rough day.

I'll keep this short and sweet. The next time you see the person you've been giving a hard time to, the person that you never gave a real chance to get to know, the person that has a lot more going on than the useless shit that you're giving them... give them kindness instead. Not only is kindness easier to give, but the outcome is often stronger and more beneficial on both ends. A simple act or feeling of kindness can go such a long way.

Happy Holidays, friends and enemies! I'm back in Ohio with my family doing lots of eating, cat snuggling, and thrifting. :)

Here's one of my favorite fall looks:

out of character

I'm a little late since these photos were taken quite a while back, but I loved this look and wanted to share it with y'all. I felt like a character out of a storybook, like my name should have been Madeline or Matilda or something. Sometimes dressing like you normally wouldn't brings you into another character, and sometimes you need that. You can discover some things about yourself that you otherwise wouldn't have known or seen. I'm gonna do this more often.

Anyway, even California gets cold. Bare legs and tank tops are no longer an option. Californians, specifically LA folk, bitch and whine about 50 degree weather (I'm guilty also) and I find it hilarious, because we know we have better weather than pretty much anywhere else in the continental US.

Affordable as always, this look was pieced together for probably under $75.
P.S. It looks like I'm still blogging. :)

the in between

I'm at a point in my life that doesn't exactly line up with fashion blogging - and lately, I've seen that the reputation of fashion bloggers have become a joke of some sort. This reputation is for good reason - nowadays everyone is totally a "blogger". This new class of fashion bloggers that have sprouted up all over the world over the past year has ruined it for all of us, and from what I have seen, they're out for one thing: free shit.

Fashion blogging isn't supposed to be a narcissist's outlet to try to score free clothes, people. It's not a website to post pictures of yourself so you can show other people how pretty you are. It's not about commenting for comments, and likes for likes. It's about inspiring others while expressing yourself through fashion.

Shit, maybe I'm guilty of creating this general fashion blogging reputation too - which is why I'm questioning the continuation of my blog. Am I contributing to something annoying and awful? Can I lead my blog into a direction that has inspiring and creative content that doesn't appear to be narcissistic? I blog because I love to do it, but I'm at a crossroads.

Here are some photos because I already had them from a while ago.

we wouldn't be seen dead here in the day

I love Vegas. No, not The Strip and the over-the-top party lifestyle, the too-tight dresses and too-high heels. Not the daytime pool raves and high stake gambling. Give me dime roulette and the suburbs where people aren't constantly trying to prove themselves to others.

I'm a sucker for a skyline, and Vegas is known for that view of The Strip. It was a warm early fall day. Pairing this open back maxi dress with my Brandy Melville caged top just felt right.
