color can wait

If I had to choose only one patterns for my wardrobe, my closet would be infested with stripes. I adore stripes because no matter what width, color, or fabric they come in, they can always fit together. Stripes can turn an outfit in so many directions as well - wether they give your outfit more energy or maybe some sophistication.

While I may be a little too passionate about stripes, I do know one thing: they're not going anywhere. This timeless pattern is by far my favorite because of the layering potential.

I layered a baggy sweater over a dress that was too short and tight for daytime roaming. The layering of the stripes was loud enough to be original, but the combination of the black and white made the look a little more refined. I can't wait to wear this again when it drops below 80 degrees in NYC!

a modern mix-up

Mixing prints - whether it be stripes, florals, polka dots, or plaids - is all the rage right now. Not only is it easy to pull off, but its something you can do with a majority of your existing wardrobe, making it easy on your pocketbook.

If you haven't seen from past posts, I got a rad deal on little boys' plaid shirt form The Childrens Place, and they fit like a charm. I've been pairing these little guys with just about everything I can think of, and the latest concoction is a stripe dress from an unknown boutique that never fit right. I solved another problem right there - utilizing something that I never wear! It fit funny and the top wasn't very flattering. With a plaid shirt layered over top and knotted, it turned into a whole new dress!

stripes on stripes

I have an obsession with both this shirt and jacket - bold black and white stripes are two things you can't mess up - even when you go on a vertical/horizontal layering overload. I paired these with my favorite gaudy gold Beauty Mart earrings and orange pants only to find myself looking like a (pretty chic) jailbird.

Bold prints + bold color = good in my book.

salmon shorts are for brunch

New Yorkers and brunch is like... peanut butter and jelly. Green eggs and ham. Sarah and whiskey. One just cannot function without the other.

It was a hot day and only (very) light clothing would be weather appropriate. Sheer top, lightweight shorts, and a light color palette were the best possible combo.
